DNF

We faced an unexpected setback and our day ended with a DNF after Matthew noticed the car was not running properly during lap 7. He pitted the car and our crew quickly discovered that we had busted a hole in the power steering cooler. This was a tough break for the team as we had the car in its best shape at the start of the race. We are ready to regroup and come back ready to race at Monadnock on May 4th!

15th Place

Yesterday didn't go as planned, yet we still made huge gains from 2023! Early in the race, a restart game cost Matthew Kimball his front bumper! He had to race smart so he wouldn't lose the Modified also! The bumper was right near the left front tire for almost 85 laps. We made several mistakes during the pit stop as well, costing him a lap. He was able to get the Lucky Dog, took the wave around during a caution to get back on the lead lap. Due to his front bumper he wasn't able to be aggressive enough to stay on the pack drafting throughout the race. With 10 laps to go the crew chief (aka Dad) told him forget about the bumper. It's go time. He started to try to push it, stayed with the Pack and even attempted passes. Was in the wrong lane for both restarts so lost a few spots after running P11. Fell back to P15. All in all although not what we wanted as a team. It was a huge improvement from the 2023 Whelen Modified Race. Next year we will put even more work in to be running up near the front of the field!!!

Thank you to all of our team members for coming out to help this weekend! We couldn't do it with out this amazing race team! Well rounded amazing team! Let's keep digging!

The day kicked off with some challenges: the heat caused the track temperature to throw off the setup feel, and we had a few hiccups with the carburetor. Despite this we worked hard on tires, handling, and resolving any issues. Our crew also prepared for live pit stops during the day as well to ensure our stops went flawlessly.

Starting P11 in the 250-lap race, Matt made it up to P4 while playing it smart, nursing the tires and dodging a few spins ahead of him. We hit the competition caution in a sweet spot with 110 laps to go, pulling off a killer pit stop that catapulted us to 2nd. After that, the car tightened up a bit, but Matt still gave it his all. When cold caution flew again we chose to make some quick adjustments to give us a chance to progress forward. Matt restarted P11 and pushed through to P8. With 5 laps to go he was neck and neck with one of the best Whelen Modified drivers known, fighting for P7. He raced hard and settled for P8 as time ran out.

Looking forward, we're feeling good about our setup for Monadnock and gearing up for the Whelen 200 later this season. Whelen races require different tires than most other racing, it takes a lot of work to build a new set up, but our team is pushing hard to stay competitive. It showed in this race, running solidly in the top 10 and mixing it up in the top 5 for a good portion of it.

Thank you to all of our regular crew for all your hard work yesterday — your all amazing. Thanks to the few that stepped up to lend a hand as well. Great work team.
